Small business $3,000 recovery grant

 

New changes that have recently been announced regarding the NSW small business $3,000 recovery grant.

Firstly, an additional 18 highly impacted industries are now eligible for the grant, including Other Creative Artists, Writers and Performers.

Secondly, the deadline for the grant has been extended until 31 August 2020.

The grant can be used to cover:

  • Fit-out changes and temporary physical changes (e.g. plastic barriers at checkouts)
  • Staff training and counselling (e.g. health & safety risks and mitigation strategies)
  • Business advice and continuity planning
  • Cleaning products and additional cleaning services
  • Additional equipment necessary to comply with social distancing or other public health measures
  • Marketing, communications and advertising (e.g. to let the community know the business is operating again)
  • Digital solutions (e.g. e-commerce or business websites)

To be eligible, businesses must as at 1 March 2020:

  • employ less than 20 employees and have a turnover of $75,000 or more
  • have a payroll below the NSW Government 2019-20 payroll tax threshold of $900,000
  • be in one of the listed highly impacted industries (see list here)
  • have experienced at least a 30% decline in turnover from March to July 2020 compared to the equivalent period (of at least two weeks) in 2019
  • have costs associated with safely reopening or up-scaling your business from 1 July 2020
